It depends mainly on wind and visibility. Solid vinyl gives the strongest, most saturated colors, while micro perforated mesh lets wind pass through, which matters for anything mounted somewhere exposed, like a fence or a large exterior surface.
Considerably, an unfinished edge is usually the first place a banner tears, grommets or hems reinforce exactly those stress points so the banner holds up to wind and repeated mounting.
With far less text and far more contrast than you’d expect, a banner usually has only a second or two to register, so we design for a single message rather than layered detail.
